Support life-limited and disabled children in hospices by helping us provide life-changing assistive technology.

Noah's Story

Noah is three years old and uses Lifelites technology to do the kinds of things other children may take for granted. He has a rare genetic disorder, known as H-ABC syndrome, which targets certain parts of his brain, causing stiffness, poor muscle tone and a lack of control, and will gradually get worse over time. Despite this, Noah is a happy and relaxed little boy who loves to be around other people and especially enjoys spending time with his big brother, Leo.

Through accessing their local children’s hospice service, ellenor, Noah and his family benefit from Lifelites magical technology.

Noah’s mum, Mags, told us a little bit about the difference that Lifelites technology has made for their family:

“Watching Noah and Leo play together using Lifelites technology has been a joy. Noah listens out for his big brother getting home from school, and when Leo walks through the door, Noah’s eyes whizz around the Eyegaze screen. The Lifelites Mobile Magic Carpet has given the boys the chance to play football, like any other brothers, helping them to build a really special relationship. The technology that Lifelites donates not only helps Noah, but also ensures that Leo doesn’t feel overlooked. Things like the iPads give Leo the chance to be involved with his little brother’s care, and he enjoys sitting with support staff and reading Noah a story from the iPad.”

About Lifelites

Like all of Lifelites packages, the technology that Noah benefits so much from was donated free of charge to his local children’s hospice service.

Lifelites is the only charity working in every children’s hospice in the British Isles to donate packages of magical technology that gives life-limited and disabled children the chance to play, be creative, control something for themselves and communicate, for as long as is possible.

As well as donating the technology itself, Lifelites provides technical support to ensure that the equipment is kept in good working order for these children, for whom every second counts. Lifelites also donates ongoing and specialist training for hospice staff, to ensure that whatever the ability of the child, they are able to reach their full potential.

The average cost of a Lifelites technology package like the one that Noah and his family access is £50,000; that’s £1,042 each month across the length of its four-year lifespan. Lifelites does not benefit from any government grants or support; the funding we receive is solely through the generosity of organisations and individuals.

Would you make a donation to help children like Noah all across the British Isles?

Or pledge to give £8 per month and become a Lifelites benefactor to receive an exclusive pin badge, as well as regular updates about the work we are doing and invitations to Lifelites hospice Celebrations near you.

Will Writing Button

The equipment Lifelites donates doesn't come cheap, and we are only able to continue donating it because of people like you. We don’t know what the future of assistive technology holds, but we know that it has the potential to change the lives of children with short lives. We need your help to invest in the future of technology.

The children we help

We know that the technology and services that we provide can change a child’s life. It gives children in hospices the opportunity to do so many things that they never thought possible, such as paint a picture, create music, play a game, or communicate with their family.

We’d like to introduce you to some of the children who have used the Lifelites technology, and the impact it has had on their short lives.

The technology we donate

Lifelites aims to harness the power of technology by donating a wide variety of assistive and inclusive equipment to enhance the lives of life-limited and disabled children using hospice services.

For these children with complex cognitive and physical impairments, this technology is quite simply magical. It gives them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have to join in with the world around them, irrespective of their disabilities.

Providing these opportunities is only possible because of the donations that Lifelites receives.

We have two new additions to our magical technology package! Click below to learn more about the Tilt Table and the PODs Sensory Tent!
