Rachel Madocks School

Project Summary

At Rachel Madocks SEN School, our ethos Valued For Being Me underpins everything we do. We support 104 children and young people aged 3–19 with profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe learning difficulties and autism, many of whom are preverbal and/or live with medical uncertainty. All pupils work at an early developmental stage and require highly personalised, multisensory approaches to learning, communication and wellbeing.

Our holistic curriculum focuses on life skills, immersive sensory learning and emotional wellbeing, alongside strong family partnership and clinical support. With Lifelites technology – including iPads with communication software, eye-gaze systems, the interactive Magic Carpet and switches – children will access meaningful learning and play beyond the sensory room, make choices, and experience or develop cause-and-effect understanding.

Integrated into education, play and therapy-informed practice, this technology will ensure pupils’ voices are heard, independence is encouraged and joyful experiences are accessible, even as needs and complexity grow.
