Leicester Royal Infirmary Neonatal Unit
Project Summary
At the Neonatal Unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary, around 1,500 babies are admitted each year, including some of the most premature and critically ill newborns in the region. We are seeking Lifelites technology to support approximately 100 babies and their families annually, creating a flexible, calming environment for relaxation, sensory engagement, family interaction and therapeutic activities.
Our proposed immersive ambient space will provide a welcoming environment away from the clinical ward, where babies, children, parents and families can spend meaningful time together. This is particularly important for babies who may never leave hospital and may never experience everyday sights and sounds such as trees, rainfall and nature.
Interactive technology will bring these experiences into the unit, creating accessible sensory opportunities. The space will promote wellbeing, reduce stress and support precious moments of connection, comfort and family bonding.
