Wheels in Motion: Epic Ride Raises Over £700 for Lifelites
What began as a casual ride between two friends quickly turned into an ambitious fundraising adventure, as Josh and Adam set out to cycle over 200 miles from Southampton to the Eden Project – all to support the life-changing work here at Lifelites.
From Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th May, the pair took on the rolling hills and rugged terrain of the South West, combining their love of cycling with a deep desire to make a difference. Their plan was bold: cover the entire distance in just four days. But by day two, the challenge took an unexpected turn. After clocking an impressive 85 miles, they were forced to pause due to Adam suffering a suspected tendon strain.

Despite the setback, their spirit remained unshaken. Refusing to let injury define the journey, the duo adjusted their plans and committed to completing the full distance at a more realistic pace. Their resilience and determination mirrored the very children they were riding for – young people with life-limiting conditions and their families who face daily challenges with determination and strength.
Thanks to their efforts, Josh and Adam raised over £700 for Lifelites.
Josh reflected on the experience:
“The hills of the South West proved tougher than expected. After a strong first day, the strain caught up with us and we had to make the difficult decision to pause. But this is just a setback – not the end. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who supported us and helped raise money for such an amazing cause. As soon as I’m back to full fitness, I’m more determined than ever to complete the full distance.”

Their journey is a powerful reminder that preparation and planning are key – both in cycling and in life. Just as Josh and Adam had to adapt and reassess their approach, the team at Lifelites carefully tailors each piece of technology to the unique needs of every child they support, ensuring every moment of joy, connection, and creativity is made possible.
If their story has inspired you, why not take on a challenge of your own? The London to Brighton Cycle Ride is a fantastic opportunity to support Lifelites – and it’s achievable for cyclists of all levels.
Every mile makes a difference. Every pedal stroke brings joy, hope, and new possibilities to children who need it most.
