Assistive Technology Training: Highlights from Lifelites’ Annual Knowledge Day

Every year, Lifelites hosts a free special skills and knowledge sharing day for our partners across the hospice, education and care sectors.

This event is always one of the highlights of our year. We thoroughly enjoy bringing together some of the amazing people we work with. It’s the perfect occasion to dive deeper into how assistive technology can power inclusion and fun.

Hands-On Assistive Tech Training: Smartbox, Soundbeam, & Cosmo

On 8th September, we welcomed over 60 tech champions from across the UK in London. Attendees got to enjoy a training session by Smartbox, creators of Eyegaze. They also attended an amazing music-making class led by our very own training expert, Jack. The participative session featured an array of assistive technology including Soundbeam, Cosmo and the Magic Carpet.

We know just how important training and skills-sharing is. These are key for care and education professionals as they enable them to use our technology for most impact for the children and young people they care for.

By providing free training, advice and support, we guarantee the longevity of the technology. The training also increases the ways in which the tech can be used for communication, creativity, learning and play.

It also guarantees the maximum impact of donations and fundraising, making sure every pound we receive is put to the best use possible.

It was fantastic to see so many partners, both long-standing and new, at the event held at the Coram Centre in London. The interactive sessions gave champions hands-on opportunities to develop their knowledge and share experiences with peers.

The music session provided everyone with a glimpse into what is possible with assistive technology. Attendees formed an impromptu orchestra to deliver a musical masterpiece created with Lifelites technology.
