Leicester Royal Infirmary Neonatal Unit
Project Summary
At the Neonatal Unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital, around 1,500 babies are admitted each year, including some of the most premature and critically ill newborns in the region. Among them are babies receiving complex or end-of-life care, where family time is especially precious.
We are seeking Lifelites technology to enhance care for approximately 100 babies and their families annually. A Mini Magic Carpet and sensory POD will transform our quiet room into a calming, immersive space where parents can bond with their baby away from the clinical environment. iPads and switches will support memory-making, shared experiences, and extended family to meet and connect with baby.
The technology will help families to feel like a family in a highly medical environment. It will provide comfort, reduce stress and create meaningful moments of connection, supporting families with compassion and dignity during the most challenging days of their lives.
