Sharing the magic
September has been a busy but magical month for Lifelites. As training manager I have had a fantastic time visiting a number of hospices and helping to deliver and train staff on some truly remarkable technology that will really have an incredible impact on the children that spend time there. I have been to Cambridge, Chorley, Arundel and Tadworth, and have really enjoyed seeing the excitement and enthusiasm the Lifelites equipment creates and have been delighted to have hospices encourage as many of their staff as possible to attend the Lifelites training sessions; we have trained over 50 staff at training sessions this month!
In addition to delivering training to hospices where we are installing new systems this year, we are making some good progress on some other projects we have in the pipeline to help support and encourage hospices to get the maximum potential from the Lifelites equipment. The online learning resource library is well underway and will hopefully be launched before the end of the year.
Volunteer Trainer Programme
We are looking to recruit volunteers who would be willing to provide training sessions on the Lifelites equipment at their local children’s hospice. These volunteers could be existing hospice staff or other other external volunteers. We are developing some training packages which will be easy to cascade to these volunteers, linking our equipment with the clinical requirements of the children at the hospices. This is not ‘IT’ training, but more about ensuring that hospice staff understand how the equipment can be applied for use by children with disabilities.
If you enjoy helping people to learn, have empathy with and some understanding of the limiting conditions the children in the hospices have and you would like to help hospice staff learn how to use the Lifelites equipment to create magical experiences, then you could be just what we’re looking for!
We will support you with training and materials and any advice or help you need to deliver the training, and we will also provide ongoing feedback, training and coaching to help continue to develop and improve your skills and knowledge.
Train the Trainer day
We are holding a "Train the Trainer" event in Birmingham on Wednesday 26th November 2014 to launch our Volunteer Trainer Programme.
An interest in technology is useful but more important is your ability to connect with people, build relationships, break down barriers and put people at ease. You will need to be calm and patient but also convey enthusiasm for the topics and engage staff in what the Lifelites package can do.
If you think you match this profile and would like to be a volunteer trainer for Lifelites and come along on 26th November, please send an email explaining a little about yourself, your skills and your availability to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 020 7440 4200.
