1. Run with friends
There's a couple of really good reasons your should get a running companion. For some people there's nothing better than a little friendly competition. For others, the idea that not going for a run might let someone down is an excellent motivator.

Running can be a great way of getting time to yourself, but get yourself a running date from time to time. It's always nice to compare notes and share favourite routes.

2. Don't do too much!
Over exerting yourself can lead to injury and will almost always cause you to give up. If you're new to running then it's really important to build gradually.

There are lots of great training plans for all sorts of levels and distances on the internet - and at Lifelites we're always on hand with advice and plans for our runners should they need it. 

3. Set a goal, sign up for a race - run for charity
There's lots of running events all over the country throughout the year. 

Having a goal to run towards is a great motivator on cold mornings and there's nothing better than crossing the finish line in front of a few thousand people. Joining an event can be a little nerve-racking if it's your first time, so it's always a good idea to sign up for a charity place. 

Running for charity - raising money through sponsorship, and talking to people about why you're running and the difference you hope to make - is also a great motivator.
