As we celebrate our 20th birthday, alongside Children's Hospice Week, we are speaking to our staff to see what their most memorable Lifelites moments are. Today we speak to our head of fundraising and PR, Samuel Davies, whose been with us since 2017:
“I visited my first children’s hospice shortly after I started at Lifelites a couple of years ago, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. We met a young boy who had a complex heart condition and had had five strokes at just four years old. He had difficulty moving and couldn’t sit up unaided, but his carers lay him down on the Magic Carpet and he was completely mesmerised.
"He was completely transfixed by the fish swimming around him and the ripples of the water, and would giggle whenever the fish reacted to his movements with a grin from ear to ear. A few months after the visit, we heard the he was no longer with us, but I’m so glad that we were able to spend time with him. It’s not his disabilities that will stay with me, it’s that cheeky grin.”
