Lifelites is kicking off it's 20th birthday celebrations this week, and to mark the occasion we are asking our staff about their favourite Lifelites moments. Today we're hearing from Katherine, one of our trainers.
Katherine is based in the North and was brought on board in 2016 when the demand for Lifelites training began to increase.
When asked about her favourite Lifelites moment, she said: “We put of a lot of effort and resource into training at Lifelites, because we know how crucial it is. Without the training and technical support for hospice staff, the technology wouldn’t have the same impact on these children’s lives, so it’s always heart-warming to see this in practice. I was running a training session a few weeks ago, and during the coffee break I saw one of the staff from the training take the Eyegaze straight to a child in the hospice who was in a wheelchair and had limited movement. He had a go at setting it up and adapting it to the child’s needs and the child was able to use it straight away. It was so lovely to see their enthusiasm and the immediate effect that the training had on them.”
