Today we are continuing our look at our staff's magical moments as we celebrate our 20th birthday.
Daisy joined the team in 2017 as our new head of operations. She manages all of the Lifelites hospice projects and oversees the work of the training and technical support team, who provide such a vital service to ensure that our technology can be used to it's full potential.
Daisy said:“It’s always brilliant seeing the unique ways children and young people use the Lifelites equipment, particularly when they realise that they are in control and making the decisions. I’ll always remember meeting a teenager a few months ago who was completely captivated by the Virtual Reality (VR). At the beginning of the day he was very shy and seemed hesitant to have a go on the VR when we asked him. A few hours later his carer said that after watching staff use the VR as part of the training and seeing it in action on the big screen, he had changed his mind and wanted to have a go. They wheeled his bed into the room and and supported him to put the headset on. The team set him up with a game where the user is an eagle flying over Paris and he loved it! His family and carers gathered and watch him soar over Paris, racing up the Eiffel Tower before launching himself back down. It was lovely to see him come out of his shell and get so much enjoyment from the equipment we had donated. It makes all the hard work worth it!”
