British actor Robert Powell becomes Lifelites newest patron

Tue 16th Jun 2020

Robert Powell joins Lifelites at a time where life-limited and disabled children are supporting are particularly at risk to Covid-19.

Robert Powell

Robert is well known for the title roles in Mahler, playing the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, and Jesus of Nazareth in the film of the same name. Beside films, he also appeared in multiple television shows, including Holby City in the role of Mark Williams, and The Detectives playing David Briggs, as well as the World War II documentary Hitler’s Bodyguard, The Story of the Third Reich and Secrets of World War II. His successful career led to nominations for a BAFTA Award and won Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival.

Lifelites anticipates that having Robert Powell patronage will help to increase the profile of the charity’s work and enable them to attract support from a wider and more diverse audience at this critical time for some of the most life-limited and vulnerable children in our society.

Robert said: "I appreciate being asked to be a patron of Lifelites. I am lucky to have two grandchildren, boys of four years and a new-born. Just as we play and communicate in every possible way, so I would like to help life-limited and disabled children have the same opportunity, especially in this time of crisis when many are very limited as to what they can do."

Simone Enefer-Doy, Chief Executive of Lifelites said: “We are incredibly honoured Robert has agreed to be a patron for Lifelites. He has an outstanding record of working in film and television and is recognised and well loved by so many. We look forward to working with him to raise the profile of the life-changing impact Lifelites makes for life-limited and disabled children, especially at this very difficult time for many of them and their families.”
