Lifelites is a unique charity with gaming and magical technology at its heart. GamesAid is the charity arm of the computer gaming industry supporting small charities such as Lifelites to make a difference to disadvantaged children through the power of technology.
This week is the GamesAid voting week and we are urging all those in the games industry to join GamesAid and vote for Lifelites here to help us gain this important funding.
Thanks to the GamesAid’s donation last year which was about a tenth of our overall income, we’ve been able to make a huge difference. It meant that we could provide extra magical technology packages to 9000 life-limited and disabled children in hospices across the British Isles throughout the year.
Our connections with GamesAid have also helped us to create Enable Gaming, an accessible game-making partnership with London Southbank University who’s students have created exciting new gaming experiences for disabled children in hospices with two key aims: to provide practical experience for games development students in pitching and developing products and to encourage young programmers to put accessibility at the centre of their work.
The money from GamesAid has been hugely important to us. Their donation has funded projects and has enabled Lifelites to provide magical technologies such as specialist iPad packages and the revolutionary eye-tracking Eyegaze: technology that all the care teams and children we work with are telling us they urgently need so the children can to play games and participate with their friends, brothers and sisters.

Simone Enefer-Doy, Chief Executive of Lifelites, said: “Games are a very important part of what we do at Lifelites which is why being a GamesAid charity is so important to us. With the support from GamesAid we have been able to provide children in hospices across the British Isles with opportunities to use assistive technology to communicate, to be creative and take control. We really hope we will be chosen to work with them again and want to thank and congratulate everyone involved with GamesAid for their spectacular fundraising efforts to date."
Voting is now open for GamesAid charities and closes on the 14th September 2015. PLEASE VOTE FOR LIFELITES HERE
