November was packed full of technology donations to hospices across the British Isles, and we met many incredible families and hospice staff. Here are some of our magical moments.
“Spending time together enjoying activities is important for every family but it is even more precious when you have a child with a life-limiting illness. This equipment will help the families of the children we care for to create some lasting memories.”
This month we visited Tŷ Hafan in Wales, Shooting Star in Middlesex, and Pepper Nurses in Hertfordshire, a hospice at home service. By donating to all these different types of services, not only are we reaching children being cared for in hospice buildings, we are also providing for children who are being cared for in their own homes as well. By doing this we are able to reach more children with our magical technology.
When we went to Shooting Star we met James and his mum. James is two years old and has a rare, painful skin condition that means his skin can tear and blister at the slightest touch, so it can be difficult for him to play games outside. The Magic Carpet gives him the opportunity to play football, and lots of other games, safely indoors under the watchful eye of his carers.
In November we met with Ewan and Kenny, two of our dedicated fundraisers who are taking on a very exciting challenge for Lifelites next year. Watch this space for more news about what the challenge will involve, Ewan said: “I’ve been thinking about this challenge for a while, and we think we’re going to be the first people ever to do it in this time, so we’re hoping to raise lots of money. We’re aiming for £20,000.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this month. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you.
