Last Christmas, Lifelites was lucky enough to be invited again to partner with the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London Freemasons on a fundraising appeal. Now all the donations are in, we’re delighted to now be able to announce that - thanks to the overwhelming generosity of their members - the incredible total of £29,871.77 has been raised!
These vital funds will support our work donating assistive technology to children with life-limiting illnesses and disabilities in hospices across London.
This is the third year running that Lifelites and the Metropolitan Grand Lodge have held a Christmas appeal and each year it is hosted by one of our celebrity patrons. Last year’s had the backing of musical legend Rick Wakeman who asked members to dig deep and donate whatever they could. They certainly didn’t disappoint!
The grand total raised from all three appeals to date is over £90,000, which is a tremendous contribution and has been crucial in supporting our work in London. One of the children who has benefitted from these donations is James. James has a rare condition which means his skin breaks and blisters very easily so it can be difficult for him to do things other children can, like playing football outside.
We were able to donate a Mobile Magic Carpet to his local children’s hospice, which projects images on to the floor which you can actually play with. Thanks to this incredible piece of technology, even without going outside, he has been able to play a whole range of games under the watchful eyes of his carers and they don’t have to worry that he will injure himself. It gives James the chance to be like any other child. It really is magic.
We’d like to thank everyone who has donated to support this appeal; we couldn’t continue our work without you!
