Lifelites received an incredible donation from Sainsbury’s Holborn branch, after they were picked by the staff as their chosen charity.
Lifelites is the only charity to provide assistive and inclusive technology packages for terminally ill and disabled children in every baby and children’s hospice across the British Isles. The package of technologies provided and maintained by the charity brings new opportunities for the children in hospices to enhance their lives. Through the magic of technology, Lifelites gives them opportunities to play, be creative, control something for themselves and communicate - for as long as it is possible.
The Sainsbury’s branch in Holborn chose Lifelites (whose office is based in Holborn) as part of its Local Charity Scheme and has raised over £2,000 in the last two years. Staff took part in various fundraising activities, including bag packs, coin collections, cake sales and dress-up days. The funds raised will go towards providing magical technology to children at local hospice, Richard House who are receiving a new package of specialist equipment this year including the revolutionary Eyegaze, touchscreen computers, iPads and more.
When speaking to Brenda, one of the staff at the store the charity asked why she had chosen to support Lifelites. She responded: "Because they are only little children who can't help themselves and they need all the help in the world."
Paul Finch, Store Manager of Sainsbury’s Holborn said: “Sainsbury’s Holborn have been honoured & privileged to support Lifelites over the last 2 years. We feel that the Lifelites team do a fantastic job day in and day out working hard to help fund projects and equipment in a very challenging financial world. Their mission to help fulfil children’s lives is hugely rewarding and we have been only too pleased to be a part of it. Sainsbury Holborn has been delighted to have had the chance to be Lifelites Charity Partner and have been really proud that we have been able to raise some money for such a great cause."
Simone Enefer-Doy, Chief Executive of Lifelites, said: “We fundraisers always say every penny makes a difference and this campaign just goes to prove it. Thanks go to the Holborn Sainsbury's team for organising this campaign on behalf of Lifelites and to their generous customers whose contributions have gone towards making up this terrific total. Brilliant!”
