We’ve had a great start to 2018, and have met some incredible families and staff at children’s hospices whilst delivering our technology. Here are some of our magical moments.
“The benefits this sort of technology brings are plain to see, whether it’s in the faces of children interacting with a Magic Carpet, or a child with limited verbal ability suddenly being given the opportunity to communicate through an Eyegaze. Thank you.”
In January we delivered brand new packages of technology to the children at Acorns in Birmingham, and Helen House in Oxford, and also delivered staff training to various children’s hospices - we even crossed the channel to Jersey!
Training is an essential part of the service we offer to hospices, as it is crucial to helping the staff get the most out of the children we care for. Here are what some staff have said recently:
“What a fantastic resource for our children here. Thank you for supplying it and taking the time to provide the training. It’s invaluable!”
“What a brilliant session – I feel so inspired! I have learnt so much and the trainer was fantastic, thank you.”
When we visited Acorns in Birmingham, we met Loki and his Dad Adam. Loki has a complex heart condition and has limited mobility – but there was nothing stopping him when he saw the Magic Carpet! With the help of his Dad and his carers, Loki had great fun splashing in the fishpond and lying in a field of poppies. Just look at that smile!
With the help of our patron, musical legend Rick Wakeman, we held a Christmas fundraising appeal for London Freemasons in December. We have been overwhelmed by the response and the money is continuing to come in. Last year’s appeal raised over £30,000; we’ll reveal the grand total for this year’s appeal in a few weeks.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this month. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you.
