Simone started the day in the beautiful town of Bowness-on-Windermere where they were welcomed like royalty by the local Freemasons who really put on a show, with not one but four different lifts! Simone was picked by Bill Bewley, the Provincial Grand Master of Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons in his Land Rover, before getting on a lake cruise on the stunning Lake Windermere. She then got on a steam train which took her to the Lakeland Motor Museum where Bill presented her with a cheque for £1,000 and she tried her hand (or feet) on a penny farthing! Her final lift in Cumbria was a 1927 Humber, which whisked her to West Lancashire.
In the spirit of keeping to a transport theme for this year’s event, the next stop in West Lancashire was the British Lawnmower Museum. She was met by local Freemasons, who very generously donated £1,000 to Lifelites and presented her with her lift to take her to East Lancashire, a gorgeous Jaguar.
The final stop of the day was the Greater Manchester Transport Museum in East Lancashire. A 6.8 litre 1980 Gold Silver Spirit Rolls Royce completed the day’s line up of transport, along with yet another kind donation of £2,000 from the local Freemasons.
