Early on Saturday morning, escorted by motorcyclists from the Herefordshire Widows Sons, Simone and her support team arrived at the beautiful surroundings of Hereford Cathedral. She was presented with a cheque for £250 and then set off wirth the bikers in convoy down winding country roads to get to Shropshire.
She made the 50 mile journey to Ironbridge, home of the world’s first bridge made of cast iron, spanning the River Severn in Shropshire. She received a warm welcome from local freemasons and Simone was photographed with her next lift, a 1960s Triumph.
Keeping the theme of great transport engineering projects going, the Triumph took Simone to Cheshire for a lift in a canal boat in the Anderton Boat Lift, a 50ft vertical lift for canal barges. Simone’s next lift was a little speedier than a than a canal barge: a vintage Aston Martin DB7, channelling her inner 007.
Total mileage today: 176
