During the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, St Oswald's has shared some wonderful feedback about how our assistive technology has helped life-limited and disabled children during isolation.
“The Lifelites equipment has been so important for us the past months. Especially for the children who we have still coming in for their stays.
As we haven’t been able to get out and about, we have been heavily relying on the equipment such as the Mobile Magic Carpet; the iPads are used every single day and the computers.
I have also used the iPads to make birthday videos for the children shielding at home and even some individual videos for our children and young adults to cheer them up. We have also been using the iPads to co-ordinate Zoom sessions with children and families who have been very bored and lonely while shielding at home. As we’ve all become a bit more confident with Zoom these get-togethers have been great fun. They’ve had quiz nights, karaoke sessions, all sorts of things! We've also organised a video session for Ewan’s 21st birthday party. Ewan has been coming to our Hospice since he was very young and we have watched him grow up with great pride. He’s a fantastic young man. It was so sad that our team and his friends from the service couldn’t party with him in ‘real life,’ but as you’ll see from the clip, they managed to have fun anyway!
It is your technology which has brought us together. We are all hugely grateful."
In March 2021, we donated a new package of magical technology to St Oswald's so they can continue to give children at this hospice as much 'normality' as possible.
