On Tuesday 5th September, we welcomed some of our amazing hospice champions and partner colleagues to a special technology showcase and workshop in London.

The event, the first of its kind, was designed to show partners the latest assistive technology, allowing them to test the equipment themselves, ask questions and give feedback, as well as sharing experiences of using their Lifelites donated tech with the children they care for.

Two of our trusted suppliers, Digit Music and Soundbeam UK, delivered fun, in-depth, hands-on training sessions which saw attendees make music and special effect sounds using cutting edge music therapy technology.

Those brave enough to step up and try out the technology soon discovered just how easy and intuitive it is to use, with the equipment specially designed to allow children with complex conditions the ability to create music using even the narrowest of movements.

We were also joined by the Breck Foundation, who gave a powerful presentation on the dangers children face from internet grooming and cyberbullying, as well as tips and advice on how to keep young people safe while participating on social media and the internet.

It was fantastic to see so many of our partner colleagues together in one room, while the event also offered a chance to hear from champions on how we can improve our service and the support we provide, as well as catching up with some old friends.

We received some really positive feedback from our partners:

Over the next five years we are aiming to transform Lifelites Learning into a comprehensive and bespoke multi-channel training programme, including enhanced face-to-face support, a dynamic e-learning hub, digital user guides and, following the success of the inaugural event, regular specialist Super User workshops.

Head of Services at Lifelites, Jane Maisey, said: “This first Super User day has been a truly positive experience for everyone concerned, the informative sessions and shared experiences will hopefully create a solid foundation for future events. From everyone at Lifelites, thank you for making the day so special.”

We hope to announce Super User Workshop 2024 dates very soon. Watch this space!
