Lifelites started out in 1999 as a Millennium pilot project with a generous contributtion from the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys. Since then our accounts have been recorded in the form of a designated fund of the RMTGB until Lifelites was launched as a charity in autumn 2006.
The decision was made to establish the project as a charity in its own right in order to meet the growing demand from the mushrooming network of children’s hospices. To help facilitate the sustainability of the Lifelites' scheme, a Chief Executive was recruited with a sound background in fundraising across the disciplines - including community, corporate and trusts for disability and hospice charities – as well as a clear understanding of charity governance and financial controls.
